Magi Chen was born in the UK where she gained her
Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) at the Manchester
School of Art majoring in Textiles. Her tutors have
included artists Jane Mc Keating, Michael Brennand-Wood,
Anne Morrell and John Renshaw. Following a year-long
post as Artist-in-Residence at an independent school in
the UK, she studied for a Postgraduate Certificate of
Education; this has led to a fulfilling career in
teaching and seen her head successful Art departments in
Cheshire and Yorkshire, and invited to lead creative and
educational workshops for the Cheshire Art Advisory
Service and Manchester Metropolitan University. She
moved to Hong Kong in 2011 where she continues to
explore means of visual expression with her
international school students and as an exhibiting
artist.
Magi is currently Teacher of Senior
School Art at Kellett School, The British International
School in Hong Kong. She held post as Head of Art,
Curriculum Leader, Second in Department and Teacher of
Art in the UK; As Lecturer, Workshop Leader, Coach and
Mentor; and as Artist-in-Residence Christie Hospital,
Manchester, UK.
