Jennifer Mercede graduated with a B.A. in painting from Western Washington University before moving to Portland. Portland formed Jennifer's artistic personality and she began to receive the love and support of a great community. Her painting style references free-flowing text, bright color fields, and crazy, energetic doodling. Jennifer's art is meant to engender joy and motivate, and she gets inspired by life adventures, children’s art, old-school hip hop, graffiti, abstract expressionism, and creative friends. Her process is spontaneous and expressive. Jennifer likes to be spontaneous in all kinds of mediums, including music, writing, and performance. To quote Mercede, “I create fast. I doodle. I paint stream of consciously. For me there is no such thing as a mistake, in art, or in life!’
